Volunteer of the Month: Barbara Weingold

CONGRATS TO OUR VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH (JULY), BARBARA WEINGOLD!

Barbara Weingold came to the Culmore Clinic as a volunteer RN. As a nurse, Barbara has worked in Pediatric Oncology, Emergency/Trauma, School, and International Nursing. She was part of a healthcare team that assisted in development of emergency medical systems in Estonia and Oman. She has been involved in the District of Columbia’s Disaster Preparedness Committee, The George Washington University Hospital’s Ethics Committee, and development of a universal screening tool for victims of Domestic Violence. She also spent time as operations director for MMA and EMAR medical repatriation programs and as Nursing Director of an Emergency Department and Level 1 Trauma Center. Barbara began health care volunteering in high school when she joined a volunteer ambulance service in her hometown in Connecticut. There she became an Emergency Medical Technician, a Vice President of Programming, and an educator. For 10 years each summer she spent a week volunteering as a camp nurse for kids with cancer. Barbara traveled to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and volunteered as a nurse for 10 days helping with the recovery effort. Prior to coming to the Culmore Clinic she also spent a year volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House in Northern Virginia. She lives in Alexandria with her husband, 3 children and 2 dogs. Barbara loves traveling, walking her dogs, gardening and watching her kids play soccer.
