If you have any questions that are not answered below, please contact us!

What is extremely positive to me is the attitude of the staff and volunteers who share a commitment to serve, along with the respect and dignity that is provided to each and every patient.
— Patty, Volunteer Administrator

General Information

Volunteers play a central role at Culmore Clinic. We rely upon them to take on meaningful tasks that are critical to our mission. As such, we ask interested individuals to make a six-month commitment to the clinic so that we can use time and resources to train volunteers as efficiently as possible. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us here. We look forward to hearing from you.

Generally, our areas of greatest need are specialists (see below), counselors, nurses, medical assistants, and medical interpreters in Spanish and/or Arabic.

I very much enjoy working with our patients who are generally hard working, sincere people caught in very tough circumstances. I am humbled to work with them and am inspired by our staff’s unflagging enthusiasm and dedication.
— Rita, Volunteer N.P.
From my first visit to the clinic I was impressed with the level of commitment everyone I met seemed to have. The patients who have engaged in counseling with me show a sincere desire to improve their lives and seem deeply appreciative of the care they receive.
— Barbara, Volunteer Counselor

Seeking Specialists

After an initial evaluation conducted by the Culmore Clinic, patients will be referred to volunteer medical specialists. The Specialist will see the patient in his or her own office, and Culmore Clinic will help coordinate care as necessary. Liability coverage will be provided to all participating specialists through the VA Risk2 program sponsored by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Risk Management.

The following specialty areas are among those most needed by patients:

  • Cardiology

  • Dentists

  • Dermatology

  • Gastroenterology

  • Gynecology

  • Mental Health Specialists

  • Oncology

  • Optometry

  • Orthopedics

If you are a specialist in any of these areas and would like to volunteer, we ask that you email us. Please expect an email response from us within a week.

It is great to work with people from all over the world while being able to help the less fortunate in our own community. I greatly enjoy working with my colleagues at Culmore Clinic and sharing their dedication to the cause of healthcare for everyone.
