About the Program
The Friday Fresh Food Pop-Up Market is a community health initiative developed through a partnership between Culmore Clinic and Arcadia Farm. The program connects clinical care with community nutrition by increasing access to fresh, locally grown produce for both patients and neighbors. Through a structured produce referral model integrated directly into the Clinic's electronic medical record (EMR) system, access to healthy food becomes a documented and measurable component of patient care.

The market will operate once each month on the last Friday of each month from June through September 2026, offering four seasonal markets. Culmore Clinic patients, particularly those enrolled in the CareFirst diabetes education program and individuals identified by primary care providers, will receive produce referrals as part of their clinical care. In addition, community members are invited to shop at the market as paying customers, expanding access to healthy food while supporting Arcadia Farm's mission and strengthening the market's long-term sustainability.
About the CareFirst Grant
This market is funded by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield as part of its commitment to fighting diabetes and diet-related chronic conditions where they start — in the places people live, shop, and eat. CareFirst's Place-Based Grants support community-led efforts across Maryland, D.C., and Northern Virginia that make healthy, affordable food easier to access. Learn more here.
