Volunteer Spotlight: Nancy Schroll, RN

Volunteers founded Culmore Clinic in 2007. To this day it is still significantly volunteer run. Regularly, we like to spotlight our volunteers as they are essential to Culmore Clinic continuing to provide quality, culturally sensitive healthcare at little to no cost to our uninsured patients.

This month we spotlight Nancy Schroll who started volunteering as a Registered Nurse with Culmore Clinic in the Fall of 2022. She had heard of Culmore Clinic years before and always thought it might be something she could be involved with "someday". After retirement, that someday finally came and she decided to check out The Clinic and get involved. We’re so glad she did!

I have been so impressed with the care provided by Culmore Clinic and also the services that are offered such as specialty care, prescriptions and educational classes.

Once a week Nancy works with a team consisting of a Provider, Medical Assistant and an Interpreter. Additionally, Nancy is involved with our Diabetes Classes where she helps other volunteers with taking the vital signs and weights of participants.

Nancy’s husband, Jim, is President of the Justice High School Scholarship Foundation where their children attended. His organization and Culmore Clinic serve a similar population in the Bailey's Crossroads/Falls Church area. They live in Falls Church very close to Bailey’s Crossroads and so it’s even more meaningful for Nancy to be able to volunteer with Culmore Clinic that services a population in her own community.

Nancy loves pursuing as many activities as she can during retirement and the flexibility of the scheduling at The Clinic allows her to have that freedom. In her spare time she travels a great deal and loves many kinds of sports and activities like tennis, swimming, golf and hiking. She and her husband have two grown children and four beautiful granddaughters who they love to visit often.
