Volunteer Spotlight: Jasmine (Chair of YPC)

Volunteers founded Culmore Clinic in 2007 and to this day it is still significantly volunteer run. Regularly we like to spotlight one of the volunteers that ensures Culmore Clinic continues to provide quality, culturally sensitive healthcare at little to no cost to our uninsured patients.

This month we are spotlighting Jasmine Williams, Chair of Culmore Clinic’s Young Professionals Committee!

Jasmine found out about Culmore Clinic when she was getting her Healthcare Management degree. She was assigned to do a project with Culmore Clinic, which then morphed into a volunteer internship, which shortly landed her in her current role as Volunteer Chair of the Young Professionals Committee, where she helps recruit new, young volunteers to The Clinic. About her introduction to Culmore Clinic, Jasmine says, “From the moment I was introduced, I could feel the warmth and passion from the team members….I resonate with Culmore Clinic's mission and vision, and see the passion for the Baily's Crossroads community. The Clinic has positively impacted my life since the initial introduction and it's truly a gift to be apart of something so special!"

Most recently, Jasmine and her fellow YPC members helped organize the Buy a Nurse a Drink event, a happy hour that showed appreciation for nurses in our community and helped raise Culmore Clinic’s profile among potential volunteers. They are in discussions of doing another one soon.

Currently Jasmine works as a Program Coordinator II at for the General Surgery Residency Program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. The program is large, about 65 residents, and she is responsible for onboarding, coordinating continuing education activities, running and analyzing reports, and assists the program director with ensuring compliance with all regulating agencies.

Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Jasmine moved to the DMV area about 2.5 years ago for her Master’s degree. She resides in Arlington and when she’s not working or volunteering with Culmore Clinic, she enjoys suspense/thriller shows, riding her bike, and going to museums.

Thanks so much for all your hard work, Jasmine! We couldn’t do it without you!
