Celebrating Eye Health with a View at Prevention of Blindness Gala

Lynette and Caren are seen here posing at the beautiful venue which looks out on the city, holding a commemorative plate POB gifted Culmore Clinic. They both agree this is the first of many partnerships to be had between Culmore Clinic and POB.

On Sunday night, our Executive Director Lynette Sappe-Watkins was a special guest alongside our long-time Communications Consultant Kendra Rubinfeld (of KRPR) at the Prevention of Blindness Gala. The Prevention of Blindness (POB) team had invited them to join to celebrate the opening of Culmore Clinic’s Eye Clinic, and the partnership Culmore Clinic, POB and KRPR formed to help make it happen.

The event, held at Top of the Town in Arlington, was a beautiful affair celebrating the meaningful work POB does to improve vision impairment through evidence-based programs for children and adults in the Metro DC area. From the podium, Caren Forsten, President and CEO of POB asked Lynette and Kendra to stand to receive recognition for Culmore Clinic’s Eye Clinic, and a full page in the program book was given to acknowledging the effort. Read the excerpt below.

In truth, it was Prevention of Blindness that deserved the recognition. Thanks in large part to their support and myriad connections in the eye health community, the Eye Clinic was filled with much needed equipment to allow for our volunteer eye providers to start seeing patients.
