Pat Hynes is a local teacher, former Fairfax County School Board member, and a friend to Culmore Clinic.
In 2004 she was faced with not one, but two cancer diagnoses.

Fortunately, Pat had excellent insurance and access to skilled oncologists; but she knows that’s not the reality for many in our own community.

Pat is an observant community member and recognizes that access to healthcare is not a reality for all our neighbors in Fairfax County. After reading a report published by VCU and the Northern Virginia Health Foundation, she was inspired to celebrate her two decades of being cancer-free by organizing a fundraiser for Culmore Clinic. She attributes her survivorship to her personal access to quality healthcare providers and resources, as well as incredible support from friends and loved ones. Join Pat to celebrate her personal health victory, while also supporting her efforts to help Culmore Clinic reach more people in our community with quality healthcare.

Without her access to healthcare, she wouldn’t have been able to see her kids graduate college.

Without her access to healthcare, she wouldn’t have been able to continue teaching, making a difference in the lives of hundreds of elementary school kids over the years.

Healthcare access saves lives and brings people closer.

We’re fundraising $20,000 to help Culmore Clinic continue providing care to our Fairfax County neighbors without access to healthcare.

Join the Movement. Donate to Culmore Clinic.

About Culmore Clinic

What We Do

Culmore Clinic is advancing health by bringing community together to provide primary care, health education and disease prevention services, at no cost, to uninsured residents in Fairfax County.

We are proud to serve people of all backgrounds, providing them with the high quality healthcare they need to thrive. For many residents living in the Bailey’s Crossroads-to-Seven Corners corridor, meeting basic needs of life is challenging.

Despite living in an affluent region, this diverse community has limited financial resources, limited education, limited vocational training, poor living conditions and very often, limited proficiency in the English language.

Each of these factors are influencers in the overall health of individuals, and to a broader extent, the community at large. Simply put, residents of this area are quite often unable to access healthcare, affordable health insurance, or public assistance. Our location, close to public transportation and within walking distance for many of our neighbors, serves as a critical healthcare pillar of our community.

Services We Offer

  • Optometry: Our vision clinic provides optical health services to help patients access care for their vision. Optical screenings are also important for diabetes care; one of the top 3 chronic diseases we treat at our clinic.

  • Nutrition Health Classes: Culmore Clinic hosts health education classes in partnership with Virginia Tech’s Family Health Education program, aiding our patients’ management of their chronic diseases.

  • Translation and Interpretation: Another common barrier to healthcare is language. We provide free interpretation and translation services if our provider does not fluently speak the language our patients speak.
