A Tribute to Becky Reynolds, NP

Many of you know Rebecca Reynolds, NP, our staff Nurse Practitioner. She’s been a staple of the Culmore Clinic community since 2014 - the smiling face that greets so many of our patients and is featured in many of our website photos (like the one above). And so it’s with no exaggeration when we say it’s the end of an era, as we announce that Becky will be moving on from Culmore Clinic to pursue other interests. But, before we let her go, we sat down with her for a quick interview to hear her stories…

What drew you to Culmore Clinic?

Culmore Clinic’s Medical Director, Dr. Charles Sneiderman and his wife Connie Lawn told me about The Clinic in 2011. At the time I was commuting back and forth to Washington State, studying Asian Medicine & Acupuncture, but was attracted to the idea of helping people that were and are with less resources. In 2014, Culmore Clinic was looking for a lead Nurse Practitioner and several folks reached out to me and asked me to apply and so I did!

What’s kept you at Culmore Clinic for nearly 9 years?

The people associated with Culmore Clinic, like DeeDee Mojica, Patient Services Manager, Dr. Charles Sneiderman, Medical Director, Terry Lavoie, Co-Founder, and Caroline Hillkirk, the former Lead Interpreter. Also, the need of the patients themselves. And the great job that we do for our patients.

Any stories stand out?

The high point for me was when the staff pulled together during COVID. Also, some successful patient stories like…

  • Getting a a diabetes patient's HGB-A1C down to a level of six after 14 years of it being unmonitored.

  • Getting a patient's skin cancer removed.

  • Getting patients’ blood pressure and cholesterol levels down to normal levels.

My goal has always been to try to help patients understand what health issues they have and how they can work with their bodies to get themselves to the highest possible level of wellness. I do this with patient education on diet and exercise, and when needed, prescribing the appropriate medications.

What’s next for you, Becky?:

I will continue to teach "Never Too Late" senior fitness at Ft. Myer, something I’ve done for years. I will also continue my wellness and acupuncture practice (A-A-Acupuncture) in Arlington, which takes a lot of time and focus. If Culmore Clinic needs a little assistance now and then I would certainly be open to helping out on a temporary basis. I will also continue to stay in touch with my Foreign Service Medical colleagues whenever I can.

Feel free to wish Becky well in the comments below!
